Marine binoculars are waterproof binoculars that are often, though not always, designed with features such as a rangefinder or compass for all of your nautical navigational needs.
Boat binoculars are an especially hardy breed of optical tools, as they are made to withstand exposure to lots of moisture, fog and changing weather conditions. These binoculars are also designed to provide a clear, focused view even in the constant motion of rocking waves.
7x50 is the most common size for marine binoculars, and for a good reason.
50 mm is the ideal objective lens size because it lets in a lot of light.
Although the 10x50 has better magnification, that can be problematic when in motion on the sea. The higher the magnification, the more the movement is magnified. This makes focusing very difficult.
Additionally, the lesser magnification provides better visibility. This is because lower magnification results in a wider field of view. The Marine 7x50 Binoculars also have a larger exit pupil, which is ideal for viewing because small pupil sizes cause dark edging around the image once it reaches the eye.
The 7x50 measurement guarantees a bigger, better viewing experience.
Although marine binoculars are specifically designed for boating, they have several features that make them a good option for hunting as well.
Firstly, the waterproof technology keeps the interior from getting damaged and the lenses from fogging or collecting water. This is beneficial for hunting in wet seasons, or on a particularly foggy or dewy morning.
Some nautical binoculars are also made with rangefinder reticles. This feature is typically used for sighting landmarks or other navigational aids while at sea. Generally, the scale shown in the image allows sailors to calculate the distance to the object based on a known height, although some have laser systems for more accurate measurements. A hunter may find the rangefinder quite helpful. Using rangefinder binoculars, a hunter can measure the distance and direction of the target.
