Nature Binoculars

Bushnell offers the best selection of nature binoculars to get the best look at your surroundings. From compact to full size, low to high magnification, we have binoculars to fit any taste and requirement, from beginners to enthusiasts.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to choosing the best binoculars for nature watching. There are numerous combinations of size and magnification to choose from, and each has its own merits.

For beginners, the best nature watching binoculars might be something compact or midsized. These options are relatively affordable, even when they are high-quality models. Generally, models that measure 8x42, like Bushnell Prime Binoculars , are the recommended choice. In addition to being a worthwhile investment, these smaller models are optimal nature trail binoculars because they are small and lightweight, making them easy to carry around while backpacking or hiking.

On the other hand, those who enjoy safaris and nature watching expeditions would be better off choosing something with a further reach. Larger models with 10x magnification work well for such long-distance animal spotting. Larger objective lenses may also be preferable in this case, as a lot of safaris are done during dawn and dusk hours when there is lower light.

Most binoculars used for nature watching do not require a tripod. Most often, the magnification on nature-watching binoculars is low enough that the image appears stable without a support. Nature watching is also normally done on the move, following a walking trail or trekking through the woods. In this case, a tripod would be awkward and excessive. It would be an extra thing to carry and would require constant setup and takedown.

On the other hand, a tripod may be necessary if the binoculars do have a high magnification level, or if the nature watching is more of a stationary activity. Holding larger binoculars for hours can cause fatigue and shaking. In this case, a tripod may be recommended and a spotting scope should also be considered. If you are setting up a permanent viewing location from your home then a spotting scope might be the better choice for long range viewing.

However, animals are not known for staying still too often. Fixing binoculars to a tripod limits the ability to follow a creature’s movement.
